ABOUT ZEST

Better Work Begins With a Different Perspective.

People get stuck in systems that make good work harder than it should be. Zest exists to change that.

THE STORY BEHIND ZEST

From People to Systems.

Nicole Connor didn’t start out building a consulting business. She started out trying to understand what actually changes behavior, first at the level of one person, then a family, then a team, then an organization.

Her first work was with kids and families navigating trauma, as therapeutic support staff and later as a behavior specialist consultant. The lesson that stuck: you don’t fix a child by working with the child alone. You have to work with the system around them, the family, the routines, the environment that shapes what’s possible.

From there, she became a dietitian, then spent five years as a health coach, learning how much of health comes down to conditions, not willpower. Along the way, she also taught psychology and nutrition at the collegiate level, work that sharpened how she translates evidence into something people can actually use, not just cite.

Nearly a decade inside health insurance showed her something else: organizations often already have valuable resources, benefits, and expertise in place, but those strengths aren’t always integrated into the way work actually happens.

The problem isn’t always what’s missing. Sometimes it’s the gap between what’s available and what’s usable.

Graduate training and professional experience in organizational change provided the framework that connected everything she’d learned. The same systems principles that shape families also shape workplaces: when the system changes, people change with it. When people are expected to change without changing the system, the results rarely last.
